A Sparrow In A Still City

A sparrow comes and sits on my window sill

Curiously enquiring why the city is so still

Seen some lovely species of birds in Bombay

Would have normally made me feel so gay

Nature is fighting back, reclaiming its due

We destroyed the environment with abandon but now we have no clue

The atrocities we have committed on this planet

Exploiting the natural resources like a bandit

My heart shudders thinking of the impending doom

Loss of lives and livelihoods and all the gloom

Will we ever learn from our mistakes?

Climate change deniers, how long for Christ’s sake

Decimating all other species for our greed

Now its payback time for our deeds

0.14 microns-sized organism has shown us our place

Wake up, let’s not treat this as just another obstacle or race
