Picture this scene at a hospital room of a couple about to have their first kid. What do you see? A fully pregnant woman writhing in pain and an anxious clueless husband, trying his best possible to pacify her. Isn’t this the ‘normal’ thing that you imagine in this scenario?
Well… here’s something with a twist.
Wife is lying on the bed, writhing in pain, cursing her decision of getting married which in the first place got her to this hospital bed. The husband, oblivious to the surroundings, trying his best to catch up on all the missed movies, with the laptop placed right at the foot of his wife’s bed (he has taken a leave from work after all!! … shouldn’t he put his time to the best use?)…. and a small addition… the movie catching up is accompanied with an animated tapping on the bed, with its pace in tandem with the adrenaline rush the movie provides.
Got the plot? I bet you did….
The tapping seems to be more of a background score to the wife’s never ending spasms… both mental and physical. With every tap the spasm rises and with every spasm the tap, or so it seems. A strong urge to kick the machine out of the bed keeps arising.
Three movies back to back, and the scene continues. Waters burst.. wife is rushed to the labour room. Movie is paused for a while and then restarted. Wife in the labour room, with every possible thought of strangling her ‘ruthless’ husband, running in her mind amidst all the screaming.
Pop comes the baby. Nurse comes out to handover the newborn to the new dad. Uh oh…. just 3 minutes of the 4th movie left… DAMN!!!….
Wife appalled at the callousness of her husband – Husband blissfully unaware of the trigger for her wrath (he was just watching a few innocent movies after all).
Two people. . One situation… two different thoughts…. both right in their own way…
All said and done…. this very trait turns out to make him ‘Super dad’ and his wife’s ‘Super man’ .. completely impersonating the saying .. Change what u can – let go of the rest. Don’t stress over what you cant change… so true 🙂
