The Husband & Three Wedding Rings

My better half has this annoying habit or knack of losing most of his personal tidbits. Be it his wallet, keys, cards… the list goes on. With keys being dropped in the elevator duct to wallets and cellphones being left in the public transport that he may travel in. But more often than not he has been lucky enough to get 90% of his things back, one way or the other. ‘Good karma’ he says 🙂

However he hasn’t being very lucky as far as losing his wedding ring is concerned (or maybe ‘too lucky’), as his karma somehow is not very supportive in this case.

The first ring he happened to generously donate to his barber.

The first ring he happened to generously donate to his barber. Out he goes for a shave and a massage, and his pleasures are so elevated, that he thinks he’ll discreetly leave his ring on the barber’s counter as a handsome tip for his super services… am sure the barber must have been thrilled with his fate that day.

He then comes home, faces his wife with a sorry expression once he realised the loss. But the territorial wife is adamant on putting fences in place. She makes a quick visit to the jeweller the very next day and, voilà, he has a new ring on his finger!

Days pass by…. and one fine day the new gold ring – a good thick wedding band has CRACKED into two! (I still wonder how he managed to achieve this feat).

I don’t know any man who has changed wedding rings thrice

The wedding band is now converted into a ring bearing his sun sign stone. I do not know any man who has changed wedding rings thrice (with the same wife!)  which makes this husband very special 🙂  The wife has given up putting fences, as her wedding ring too no longer fits.

So now we both do have our rings, though not on display. Finally, it is the relation that matters which cannot be bound by a ring. And now with the fences having vanished, our love for each other has never being more fulfilling than what it is now.

But then (scratching my head), how did he manage it twice??!!

  1. “Relationship is more based on mutual respect rather than the wedding ring” is clearly brought out in this story.
